James Cassidy 1923-1995

James Oliver Cassidy was born March 12, 1923, at Pratt, Minnesota, to parents Anna and James W. Cassidy.
Jim was raised on a farm in the Bear Creek area south of Shevlin. He worked in the CC Camp and on ranches in Montana until he enlisted in the Navy during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Rosella Fradenburgh February 11, 1944, in Moose Creek Township.
After he was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Sunburst, Montana, where he worked and ranched for two years. From Sunburst they moved to Conrad, Montana, where he learned auto body work. They moved to Havre, Montana, where he continued working as an auto body mechanic for several years.
The he decided to change vocations and opened up Havre Glass Shop and operated that until they sold their home and business and moved to Kingman, Arizona, where they went into partnership in agrocery store and meat market for a short time. He then opened another shop, Jim's Glass and Paint, which he sold out in 1970.
He worked in three different mines as a mechanic welder in Arizona and California for three years until he decided to move back to Bagley. He operated Jim's Glass and Welding shop for five years until he sold out and traveled from 1983 to 1986. They settled in Kingman again where he resided until his death.
He was a charter member o the Grace Lutheran Church in Kingman. He served as vice chairman on the Interim in 1963 and in 1964 he was also on the Steering Committee to help get the church started. He served on the church council for a number of years.
He was a past member of the V.F.W. and Lions Club, and a current member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Rosella; two children, Linda (Gary) Overson of California, and James D. (Linda K.) Cassidy of Solway, Minnesota; mother, Anna Sorom; one brother, Benny Sorom of Shevlin; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
A memorial service was held November 1 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Kingman.
Interment will be at the Moose Creek Cemetery at a future date.
