Mrs. Martha McConnell Blevins

Complications following three and a half years illness resulted in the death of Mrs. Martha McConnell Blevins, aged 69, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hollis Johnson, R. D. 1, Volant, Friday evening at 7:15 o'clock. A lifetime resident of her community, Mrs. Blevins was born in Volant on March 12, 1874, a daughter of William C. and Elizabeth Jordan McConnell. She was a faithful member of Volant Presbyterian church and the Women's Missionary Society of that church. For 48 years she was married to Thomas Clark Blevins, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1941. Survivors are the following children; Mrs. Esther Johnson, Theodore, Earl E., Ivan C.; the following brothers; James J., Henry S., Carlon O., Caldwell D., Kerr E. and John W. McConnell, and two grandchildren, Dale and Jean Johnston. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Cunningham funeral home, Leesburg, with Rev. Homer K. Miller, pastor of the Volant Presbyterian church in charge. Interment will be in Plaingrove United Presbyterian cemetery. The body, now at the funeral home, will be taken into this evening to the Johnston home at Leesburg Station, where friends may call. It will be returned to the funeral home Monday at noon for services at 2 o'clock.
