MRS. JOHN DAHL CALLED BY THE ANGEL OF DEATH
At 5:45 o'clock on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 9th, in the St. Peter State Hospital, occurred the death of Mrs. John Dahl, a Severance township resident for many years. She had attained the age of 64 years, 2 months and 27 days. Her demise, according to physician's report, was caused by a chronic heart condition which, apparently, developed following an attack of the "flu." Her death came very suddenly and unexpectedly. She had been an inmate of the St. Peter institution for a number of years.
Mrs. Dahl, nee Ida Mathilda Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Nelson, also former residents of this locality, was born at Judson, Minn., Feb. 12th, 1880.
After coming to this community she became affiliated, as a member, of the Clear Lake Baptist church congregation, joining the same on March 4th, 1894.
Her marriage to Mr. John Dahl, her surviving husband, was solemnized January 30th, 1901. In addition to the surviving husband there are also six sons who are left to mourn her passing, i.e., Lawrence, at St. Peter; William, at Waterville; Herbert, at Gibbon; LeRoy, at Minneapolis; Raymond, somewhere overseas and Arnold, somewhere in the South Pacific.
Then, too, there are 8 grand-children and the following sisters and brothers who survive: Mrs. Oscar (Alice) Chelberg, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Frank (Nora) Mackie, of Lewis, Wis.; William and Dewey Nelson, of Cambridge, and Ernest Nelson, of Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services were held for her last Saturday afternoon at the Clear Lake Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Harold McClure officiating. During the services the Mms. Walter Eklund and Clarence Landquist sang two special hymns. Interment of the mortal remains was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Pall bearers were Messrs. Albert Jacobson, August Landquist, John Carlson, Wm. Melquist, John Nordlund and John Lagerstedt.
Relatives from a distance who were present for the funeral rites were Mrs. Oscar Chelberg, Mrs. Joe Melander and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Dahl and family, of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dahl, of St. Peter, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Dahl, of Waterville.
Another leaf has fallen,
Another soul has gone
But still we have Gods' promises
In every robin's song;
For He is in His Heaven
The bright sun's kindy ray.
He always leaves to mortals
And though He takes away
He leaves the fragrant blossoms
And lovely forests, green,
And gives us new found comfort
When we on Him will lean.
