He recovered from the siege and spent another month in Minneapolis when he was again stricken and returned to University hospitals where he spent three weeks before being transferred to Renfair Rest Home in Fairfax.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. Services were at Hinterberg and Westby funeral chapel in Gibbon at 2:00 p.m. followed by services in the Clean Lake Baptist church with Pastor Chisholm officiating. During the services Ralph and Kenneth Anderson sang. Pall bearers were Lawerence and Lyle Dahl, Raymond Melquist, Harold Nordlund, Wallen Jacobson and Clarence Landquist. Burial was in the Baptist cemetery.
