Shawnee resident Frances N. Bailey, 84, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, in Shawnee.
She was born May 11, 1924, in Gilliland, Texas to J.P. and Cynthia (Bell) Hine.
She moved throughout Texas and Oklahoma as a child with her parents who were migrant farmers.
She attended high school at Commanche and on May 2, 1942, she married Earl Bailey in Ardmore, Okla. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1984.
She worked hard as a homemaker raising six daughters and taking care of her family.
She enjoyed time spent with her six daughters and her extended family. She loved crocheting, sewing, and enjoyed reading catalogs that showed off jewelry. She was fascinated with bead jewelry, and enjoyed ordering things out of catalogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant son, Joe Earl Bailey; daughter, Verna McCuistion; two sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Mary and Kent Merrill of Oklahoma City; Joquetta and Ken Newberry of Oklahoma City; Linda Bailey of Oklahoma City; Donna and Bobby O'Neal of Goldsby, Okla.; and Betty and Dale Dickson of Shawnee; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William H. Bentley officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
