Nellie Fox area pioneer, also known as Ella and Ellie age 79, passed away Friday, at Devils Lake follwing a three week illness. She had lived in North Dakota for 61 years. Funeral services were held at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Leeds, ND. Father Stephen King conducting the Requiem High Mass. Pallbearers were her grandsons, James, Vincent Jack and Dennis Grady and Milton and Martin Tobin. Burial in the family plot in Leeds Catholic cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home, Leeds was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fox was born August 20, 1874 at Madoc in Eastern Ontario, Canada the daughter of Martin and Kathleen (Quinlan) Sweet. In Feb. 1892 she was married to George Tobin, they came to ND and settled in Irvine Twp. East of Leeds. To this union were born three children: Joseph, on the home farm, Mrs. Martin Grady (Catherine) of Leeds and George of Minot. Mr. Tobin died in 1898. She was then married in 1900 to Milton Fox. They had five children, Mrs. John Grady (Anne) of Leeds, Mrs. Harold Binckley (Ida) now deceased. Milton, who died in infancy, Raymond of Tioga and Bernie of Irvine Twp. Mr. Fox died Decemeber of 1936. Mrs. Fox remained on the family farm until 1944, when she moved to Leeds. Besides their own family, Mr. and Mrs. Fox reared two grandchildren Harold and Bernard Binckley. Surviving are 26 grand children, 30 great grandchildren, two sisters Annie Beaton, Minnie O'Keefe of Standish, Michigan and one brother Joseph Sweet and wife Monica of Flint, Michigan.
