Seminole residen Robert Leetka Sr., 84, died Wednesday June, 13, at a Seminole nursing home.
He was born April 9, 1923, in Holdenville to Porter Leitka and Jowina (Tiger) Reed.
Robert attended Sasakwa Schools. He worked for Tommie Cello Pac as a truck driver. He enjoyed walking and playing softball and spending time with his family. Robert was a member of New Tulsa Ceremonial Grounds.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Eame Theatre Ribbon and Four Bronze Service Stars. He had served in Normandy, Northern France, and Central Europe with the 848 Bombardment Squadron. He served with the Army tanks destroyer and was a marksman. He also was trained as a mechanic on airplanes and engines
Robert was married March 23, 1946, in Seminole to Nelsey Palmer. She preceeded him in death April 22, 2006.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include his son, Robert L. Leetka Jr.; daughters, Sherry Littlecreek, and Cora Smith; sister, Anna Fixico; seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the White Family Cemetery with Marvin Keesee and Chaplin Donnie Knight officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Tracey, Robert, Christopher, Melissa, Tony, Steve, and Willie. Pallbearers will be from the Absentee Shawnee Veterans Association.
