Mr. George Puffenbarger died at his home near Headwaters, Va., Friday, Oct. 8th, having reached the age of 65 years, 5 months and 10 days. Mr. Puffenbarger was an honest and peaceable citizen being of a loveable disposition, he greeted every one with a smile and any one was welcome in his home; he never wanted any one to leave hungry. The writer spent some time in the home with him and helped to care for him in his illness. Although he suffered more than we can know he bore it patiently and never complained much. He was a tender father always had a kind word for his family and was interested as to their comfort. He had been in failing health for the past four years, but was able to be about his business until three months ago, when he gradually grew worse. About two weeks before his death he became bedfast, all that loving hands could do failed, and on Friday night at 8:15 he peacefully passed away, death being due to heart failure. Mr. Puffenbarger was born in Pendleton county, W. Va., on April 28 1872, near Sugar Grove, and was a son of Benjamin and Mary Puffenbarger His father and mother, two sisters and one brother preceded him in some years ago. Twenty-three years ago he married Mrs. Dolly C. Bodkin of near Headwaters. Surviving him are, his wife, one son and one daughter Clyde R. and Meda M. Puffenbarger, and four step children, Leafy and Janie and Henry Bodkin of Headwaters, and Lonnie Bodkin of McDowell, Va. Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of Rev. Mr. Shultz, with interment in the family cemetery on South Fork. Pallbearers were—Lester Bodkin, Pink Bodkin, Gilbert Propst, Robert Armstrong, Harry Puffenbarger, Marvin Simmons. Flower girls were—Christina Simmons, Mabel Simmons, Fern Simmons. Beulah Bodkin, Beulah Varner, Ora Mae Puffenbarger.
