CONFEDERATE SOLDIER:
Enlisted 20 Sep 1861 as 2nd Lt. in Co E, 33rd NC. Transferred to Co C "Cabarrus Hornets" 33rd NC Infantry Regiment. Co C was organized in Concord, Cabarrus County, NC. Capt.

Capt. Corzine fought in numerous battles including Gettysburg, PA. Capt. Corzine had been wounded in the Battle of Chancellorsville. He later led Co. C, in the Pettigrew - Trimble Charge "Pickett's Charge" on Cemetery Ridge at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. Capt. Corzine's named is used the the book "Also for Glory" by Don Ernsberger. "Also for Glory" is about the Pettigrew - Trimble Charge at Gettysburg.

David's next youngest brother was Pvt. Robert Washington Corzine (Find A Grave #59122019) Co C 62nd NC Regiment. Robert had moved to Haywood County in the mountains of western North Carolina prior to the war and there joined Co C. David is buried at the Reeves Family Cemetery near Waynesville, Haywood County, NC.


David was the oldest brother to Pvt. James C. Corzine (Find A Grave #32319374) also of Co C, 33rd NC. James is buried at Cold Water Baptist Church, Concord, NC along with many other Corzines.

Capt. Corzine was killed in First Battle of Deep Bottom, July 28, 1864 near Gravel Hill. This defensive action was part of the Petersburg Campaign, for the defense of Richmond. He is buried in unmarked grave along with 30,000 other Confederate troops on Memorial Hill at the Blandford Church Cemetery, Petersburg. Capt. Corzine is the father of David Hake Corzine (Find A Grave #59111297) b. 17 Aug 1861 d. 9 Jan 1915. David Hake is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord, NC.

Capt. Corzine is a cousin to Mary Anna Morrison Jackson(Find A Grave #7765736) the wife of Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson (Find A Grave #536). The cousin to Eugenia Exirene Morrison Barringer who died in 1858, buried at Memorial Gardens in Concord, the wife of Gen. Rufus Barringer also of Concord and who was the commander of the 1st NC Cavalry. He is also the cousin to Mary Graham Morrison Hill, the wife of Gen. "D.H." Daniel Harvey Hill who are both buried at Davidson College Cemetery, Davidson, NC. After the war, D. H. Hill taught Mathematics at Davidson College. The three Morrison sister each married Confederate Generals. Their father the Dr. Rev. Robert Hall Morrison was the first President of Davidson College, Davidson, NC.
