MRS. PETER BEGLEY
Mrs. Peter Begley, aged 82 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.P. Mackey, 414 Division street, at 11:20 Sunday morning [Aug 16] following a two weeks' illness.
During the past several years Mrs. Begley had been practically an invalid, during which time she was given loving care and attention by her daughter.
Mrs. Begley was a splendid mother and was well-liked by everyone who knew her. She was the mother of 11 living children, 51 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was born in County Galway, Ireland, and came to America in 1864, locating in Atchison. She married Peter Begley two years later at St. Benedict's church, from which she will be buried.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Begley lived on a farm near Potter until Mr. Begley's death fourteen years ago next January. Since that time she has been living at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mackey.
She is survived by eleven children: Michael, John, Peter, James and Edward, all of Kansas City; Mrs J.R. Highfill, Muskogee. Okla.; Mrs. William Donnelly. Cummings; Mrs. C.P. Mackey and Mrs. T.J. McNamara, both of Atchison; and Mrs. E.V. Byrne and Mrs. M.F. Owens, both of Kansas City. All of her children were here for the funeral. Three children, Mrs Ed. Hegarty, Mrs. Rose Highfill and Thomas Begley are dead.
Funeral services were held Tuesday [Aug 18] morning at 10 o'clock at St. Benedict's church. She was laid to rest beside her husband in St. Patrick's cemetery, south of town.
