He was a retired electrician for Jefferson County Board of Education, a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and enjoyed playing softball and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Alvey; brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Donald Alvey; sister, Duma Powell; a grandson; and a granddaughter.
He is survived by his children, James(June), Steve (Janet), Charles and Michael Alvey, Deborah Johnson, Beverly Owen (Keith), Theresa Alvey and Valerie Gray; former wife, Mary Kay Alvey; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and sisters, Darlis Manning and Judy Ballard.
Funeral Mass is 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 5915 Outer Loop with burial in Penn Run Memorial Park. Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Friday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
