Parents of Abner, Allen Andrew grew up in Lincoln Co., and around 1822 married Mary "Polly" Hobbs, a daughter of Christopher Hobbs. Polly was born about 1805 in Lincoln Co. In 1832 Allen and Polly moved to Hardin Co., Illinois. They settled on 40 acres of land in T11 R9 Section 32 in Rock Creek Precinct. The land is located on what is known as "the mountain".
