Born August 10, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was the son of the late James D. and Fern Scott Abbott. He was married for 42 years to Sandra Ketterer Abbott, who survives.
Jim worked as a salesman for Phil Fitts Ford in New Castle and later for Prudential Insurance Company until his retirement in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961, stationed at various missile sites. He was a past member of the American Legion in Wampum, the LMBA and the VFW in New Galilee. Jim enjoyed genealogy research and his dogs.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra, and a half-sister, Debra Abbott of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, June 22, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Wampum.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. C.F. Hoffman, of the Galilean Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in White Church Cemetery.
