Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Altamont, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park, rural Effingham, with military rites by Altamont VFW Post 7676. Memorials: donor's choice.
Mr. Allen was born on Feb. 27, 1909 in Woodbury, son of John and Martha Jane Sanders Allen. He was a retired custodian for Altamont Community School District 10 and retired from Altamont Supply. He was a member of VFW Post 7676 of Altamont and a World War II Army veteran. He married Thelma Kesterson in 1945 in Altamont. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Surviving are his sons, Terry of Humboldt; Kenneth of Oreana; daughters, Judy Foreman of Decatur; Sharon Treier of DeKalb; Ruby Allen of Hartville; brother, Delbert Allen of Effingham; 10 grandchildren; one greatgrandchild.
One brother, three sisters and one grandchild preceded him in death.
