Gibson City Courier (Gibson City, Illinois) - Friday, March 14, 1890
Died, yesterday evening, at his residence on Sangamon Avenue, Barney Crummy in the 84th year of his age. The deceased was one of the early settlers of Gibson, and has been a familiar figure o our streets during the whole period of its growth. He was born in Ireland, and was a man of robust frame. Up to two years ago it was his boast that he had never taken a dose of medicine, prescribed by a physician. He was the oldest man in the town, and preserved his physical vigor unimpaired until his 80th year. During the past two years he has failed rapidly. He leaves an aged wife, a son and seven daughters to mourn his loss.
