ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Steve Andrist, 40, of 3707 10th Ave. S.W., will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Christ United Methodist Church, the Rev. Scott L. Daniels officiating. Burial will be in High Forest Cemetery in High Forest.
Mr. Andrist died while vacationing in Detroit Lakes, Minn. on Sunday (June 20, 1999).
He was born Oct. 10, 1958, in Rochester and grew up here. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1977 and worked as a painter with his father, at Stan Andrist &; Sons Painting and Decorating. He took over his father's business in 1991 and was owner-operator of Andrist Painting. He married Cindy L. Valli on March 17, 1979, in Rochester; she is employed at Mayo Clinic. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever and enjoyed softball, stock car racing, golf and was a Youth Hockey supporter.
Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Janet Andrist of Rochester; three sons, Jesse D., Jake S. and John L., all at home; paternal grandparents, John and Arloene Andrist of Rochester; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Elda Nord of Prairie Lake, Minn.; two brothers, Scott of Kasson and Stuart of Rochester, and a sister, Debbie Andrist of Rochester.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Macken Funeral Home and one hour before the service Thursday at the church.
