Marvin Brouwer was born on June 28, 1929 to John and Wilhelmina (Vander Kieft) Brouwer on the family farm near Chandler, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school District 87 near Chandler. As a young man he worked as a hired man on a farm near Leota, Minnesota.
On August 6, 1948 Marvin married Rose Kruger in Chandler where they made their home. Marvin operated the Standard Oil Station in Chandler for 13 years, when in 1961 he moved his family to Hadley, MN. Over the years Marvin sold livestock equipment, worked at Champion Homes in Slayton, MN and was a Watkins dealer.
He was a current member of the Iona Presbyterian Church, serving as both elder and trustee and also served on the church cemetery board. Marvin was an avid sports fan enjoying hunting, fishing, baseball and bowling. He had a passion for watching all sports and enjoyed his morning coffee with friends.
Marvin died at the McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 75.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Rose; three daughters, Jeanine (Terry) Lloyd, Anita Brouwer, and Darla (Richard) Van Meveren; three sons, Loren, Verlyn and John; eight grandchildren, Dina Landphair, Barb Lloyd, Victoria, Kyle, Kyra and Karl Brouwer, Travis and Tony Van Beveren; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Desirea Brouwer; one sister, Arlene (Cliff) De Zeeuw, one brother, Albert (Betty) Brouwer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marvin's parents, two infant sisters, one infant brother, one brother, Wilbert and one sister-in-law, Mimi preceded him in death.
