Herman Ludwig Bey born in Germany. Died at home near McCook. Raised and schooled in the Lutheran faith. About 1870 he emigrated to America. June 16, 1876 married Matilda Bahr. In 1879, they came to Red Willow County, settled in Ash Creek territory, lived 53 years on his homestead. One of the founders of St. John's Lutheran. Seven children born to this union. Three living: Mrs. J. Wall, Ed Bey and Amanda Bey. Eighteen grandchildren. Four children preceded Herman in death: Mrs. John Troester of McCook, Mrs. G. Bartls,Campbell, Helen and Olga.
