Herbert H. Bowser, 74, of Cadogan died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born March 4, 1929 in North Buffalo Township to Emmett McClure and Bessie Ella (Sloniger) Bowser.

Mr. Bowser was a coal miner, retiring from Penn Allegheny Coal Co. in Tarentum.

An Army veteran, he served in Korea.

He was a member of North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church, North Buffalo Township.

His other memberships included the National Rifle Association and the United Mine Workers Association.

He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his grandchildren and going to his cabin in St. Marys. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and growing vegetables.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 52 years, Berdean (Leslie) Bowser whom he married June 7, 1952; one son, James Bowser of Templeton; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Gross of North Warren; three grandchildren, Michael J. Bowser, Emily D. Bowser and Jared A. Bowser; one stepgrandchild, Stacey L. Gross; one brother, Clarence M. "Buck" Bowser of Kittanning; five sisters, Virginia Morrison of Freeport, Goldie G. Pollock of Warsaw, Ind., Mrs. Albert (Dorothy M.) Brown of Ford City and Lillian L. Boarts and Mrs. Roy (Betty M.) Heilman, both of Kittanning; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five sisters, Mary H. Bowser, Alice V. Evans, Olive E. Nobel, Lottie Belle Bowser and Violet L. Smith.

BOWSER —Friends of Herbert H. Bowser, 74, of Cadogan, who died Feb. 12, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday at North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church, North Buffalo Township, until funeral services at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Robert Burns officiating.
