Zach Carl Whedbee, 63, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 in Avon. Mr. Whedbee was born in Frisco and was a retired pilot with the N.C. Department of Transportation Ferry Division. He was a member of the Pilot Boat Association. Mr. Whedbee was the son of the late Zach Harrison Whedbee and the late Linda Fulcher Whedbee. He is survived by one daughter, Tiffany W. Meekins and husband Ryan of Avon; one son, Zach C. Whedbee, Jr. and his wife Tracey of Hatteras; one sister, Delores "Dee" Jennette and husband Wayland of Buxton; one brother, W.L. Whedbee of Frisco and one nephew, Wayland Jennette, Jr. of Buxton. A Celebration of Life will be held at Little Grove United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Roger Barnett and Rev. Charles Moseley officiating. Burial will take place in the Fulcher Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, May 17th from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM and other times at the home of W.L. Whedbee, Whedbee Lane in Frisco. Twiford's Island Chapel, Hatteras, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
