Raymond J. Brandon, 81, of Spring Creek RV Resort, Crescent City, IL, formerly of Rantoul, IL., died at 12:30 P.M. on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka, IL.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Eden Park cemetery, 500 Church Drive, Rantoul, IL., with Rev. Jeffray Greene officiating.
Military rites will be provided.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman with Masonic rites by Paxton Lodge 416 at 8:00 P.M.

Memorials may be made to Raymond's family.

Raymond was born on December 24, 1928 in Cross Plains, IN to Harry R. & Florene (Brooks) Brandon. His childhood was spent in Cross Plains, Indiana.

He married Betty R. Benson. She died on October 12, 1978.

Survivors include his fiancee - Corinne E. Martin of Crescent City, IL. One daughter - Pamela Hopkins of Tennessee. One son - Raymond D. (Verla) Brandon of Michigan. Two step daughters - Donna (Bill) Johnmeyer of Missouri and Marsha (Tom) O'Connell of Minnesota. Twelve grandchildren. Seventeen great grandchildren. Two sisters - Lucille (Raymond) Boldrey of Kentucky and Evelyn (George) Davidson of Indiana. One brother - Paul Brandon of Indiana. Many nieces and nephews.
Pre-decedents - parents, wife, one daughter - Lynda Somsen, two grandsons - Trevor Brandon and Joshua Schultz and one nephew - Billy D. Fields.

Raymond was of the Lutheran Faith. He had formerly lived in Rantoul from 1959 - 1985. An Air Force Veteran from 1945 - 1966. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant and also worked in civil service at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul where he was a weather and jet engine instructor. He retired from civil service at the age of 55.

Lifetime memberships included of VFW Post 6750, American Legion 287 both of Rantoul, Paxton Mason Lodge 416 - serving as Master from 1974-1975. Other memberships are Moose Lodge, Scottish Right of Danville, Shrine of Springfield and York Rite Bodies of Paxton and Board member of Lot Owners Association at Spring Creek RV Resort.

Raymond enjoyed travelling, camping and collecting. He was a handyman and jack of all trades. He enjoyed helping others.
