Known as Captain, William was the son of Isaac and Sarah Dennison Boyce. Husband of Margaret Wilson, then Mary Giffin. Father of Margaret W., Juliette D., James H., Andrew Giffin, Isaac Lincoln, William John, Thomas S., Mary F., Sarah, and Elizabeth J. Boyce. (Mary Giffin is the mother of all these children.)

BOYCE PASSES AWAY - Commanded Company K of the First Pennsylvania Cavalry in Civil War --- HAD SERVED AS POSTMASTER -- Born in 1821, He Had Always Made His Home Within a Mile of His Birthplace - Was Identified With the Republican Party - CAPTAIN WILLIAM BOYCE of Boyce Station died on Sabbath. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served as Captain of Company K, First Pennsylvania Cavalry, commanded by Col. Bayard. He was postmaster at Herriottsville, which was changed later to Boyce postoffice. Deceased was born in South Fayette Township, Allegheny County, in 1821, and had lived within a mile of his birthplace until his death. Captain Boyce was a conscientious citizen and commanded the highest respect of all who knew him. He was a member of Col. Espey Post, G. A. R. of Carnegie. In political life he was always identified with the Republican party. He leaves two brothers and one sister, and his wife, MRS. MARY BOYCE, and two sons, who are both married: ISAAC LINCOLN BOYCE of Boyce Station, and WM. JOHN BOYCE of Hills Station. He was the father of ten children, eight of whom are dead. His old comrades in arms and the members of his post are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will be held on Tuesday at 12:30. Services in Fawcett M. E. Church.
