William E. Anderson, 75, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Columbus. Born July 26, 1926, in Sullivan, he was the son of John and Emma Mae (Moore) Anderson. He worked for Cummins Diesel in Columbus and was also a ham radio operator. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the Army in WW II. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Bell (Hildenbrand) Anderson of Carlisle; two daughters, Georgene Shaw of Columbus and Kimberly Nicholas of Freetown; step-daughter, Donna Mae McCombs of Carlisle; two sisters, Betty Crockett of Greencastle and Mary Brodie of Port Charlotte, Fla; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Billy Anderson; three brothers, Alfred, John and Pat Anderson; one sister, Margaret Anderson Headley; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at the Newkirk Funeral Home in Dugger at 3 p.m. Saturday with Brother Tom Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethany Cemetery.
