Former Seminole County resident Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Buckner, passed away Monday, May 16th, 2011 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years. Liz was born on October 2,1942 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Monday Buckner and Annie Cornell. She was a graduate of Chilocco High School and attended Oklahoma Community College. She was a member of Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church, Wewoka, OK. Liz was a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation Tribe. Liz's hobbies included crocheting, playing bingo, softball, and writing calligraphy. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Preceding her in death are her parent and two brothers; Vernon Harjo and Billy Buckner. Liz is survived by her four daughters, Carol Bierman of Shawnee, OK, Cheryl Scott, of Oklahoma City, OK, Dawn Harjo of Okmulgee, OK and April Harjo of Okmulgee, OK; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; sister Bernice Alexander, one aunt Lucy Kimble of Ponca City, OK; a nephew Richard Alexander and niece Jimmie Carol Dunn. A host of other relatives and friends. A wake service is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church. Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church. Rev. Houston Tiger will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cornell Cemetery in Holdenville, OK. Pallbearers will be Richard Alexander, Jerrod Baptiste, Vincent Bierman, Houston Tiger Jr, Benny Tiger and Glen Wagoner. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Scott and Curtis Scott. Arrangements by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
