This is the bio from Ancestors and Descendants of Robert Harris, Sr., by Mary Harris Stratton (1967)

Robert Harris Sr., was born in the County of Donegal, Ulster
Province, Ireland, August 26, 1702. In the 25th year of his age, 1727, he
married Mary Ann Rogers, in Donegal County, nigh to the town of Lifford.

By this union there were 3 children, all girls, Viz. Janette, Margaret and
Margery.

His wife died and for sometime he remained a widower.

About 1744 he married Margaret McElmon (McElmor or possibly
Mcilhenny) in Donegal County, nigh to Litter Kenney.

By this marriage
there were 5 children, two of whom, Viz. the 3rd and 4th, died quite
young.

The remaining were Robert, Jr., Mary and William.

COMES TO AMERICA 1745

ROBERT HARRIS, SR. came to America about the Year 1745 and
settled on Swatara Creek in Lancaster County, Pa. The children (3 by
his first wife) came with him. Janette never married.

Margaret and Margery married and settled in Pa.
Neither of them ever came South.
Robert Harris never became a land owner in Pennsylvania.

ROBERT HARRIS, SR. COMES TO N. CAR. 1765

In 1765 he emigrated to North Carolina and settled on a small spot of
land on Footy Creek in Cabarrus County.

CHILDREN
Robert Harris Jr., Mary and William, children of his second wife,
came with their parents to North Carolina.

The father lived to an advanced
age and died December 26, 1788. His wife, Margaret, died August 25,
1789. They with their sons, Robert, Jr. and William, rest in the Old
Rocky River Cemetery.

ROBERT HARRIS, SR. - 2ND. MARRIAGE

The following is the account of the second marriage of Robert Harris,
Sr. and succeeding generations.

Robert Harris, Sr. remained a widower for sometime in Ireland. In
1744 he married Margaret McElmon (McElmor, Mcilhenny or Mcllmurin), in
Ulster Province, County of Donegal, nigh to Litter kenney. She was born
in 1712.

By this marriage there were 5 children, the 3rd. and 4th. dying
young. Their names are not known.

The remaining 3 are:

1- Robert Harris, Jr. b. 1745
2- Mary Harris b. 1747
3- William Harris b. 1/1/1755

Robert Harris, Jr. d. 6/27/1817
Mary Harris d. 1803
William Harris d. 2/14/1828

These children were all born on Swatara Creek, Lancaster County,
Pa., where Robert Harris lived for 20 years before he came to Harrisburg,
N. C. about 1766.
