JASON LEE & ROY LEE AKERS - Funeral services for Roy Lee Akers and his two-year-old son, Jason Lee, of Pearl were held at 1:30.p.m. Tuesday in Hanks Funeral Home at Pearl with Brother Wilson Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Crescent Heights cemetery, Pleasant Hill. Mr. Akers and his son were drowned Friday night when their car rolled into the Illinois river at the Kampsville ferry landing. Mr. Akers' wife Teresa managed to jump from the car before it reached the water. Born Oct. 7, 1947 in Pittsfield, Roy Lee Akers was a son of Benjamin Francis Akers of Pearl and Mary Elizabeth Stone Neese of Nebo, who survive. He married Teresa Plopper and she survives. Jason Lee Akers was born March 15, 1978 at Illini Hospital.
