Funeral services for Mr. Courange, of Laverne, OK, and most recently, of Purcell, were held at the Laverne Assembly of God Church. (Wilson-Little Funeral Home, Purcell, OK.) Mr. Courange, age 88, passed away at St. Anthony Hospital.
He was the oldest of 19 children born to German immigrants, Joseph Courange and Mary (Damel) Courange.
On June 16, 1942, he married the love of his life, a beautiful young Cherokee Indian girl named, Nora Faye Sapsucker.
Growing up in Central Kansas he learned how to work hard as a farm boy and continued that same work ethic throughout his life. In the Kansas oil fields in the early 1940s he started out as a roughneck leading to a lifelong career of nearly 40 years, before he retired in 1984, as a Drilling Superintendent. Over the years, he worked and lived in KS, OK, TX, MT, AZ, MO, and KY.
Upon retirement he and Faye made it a priority to live close to their children and grandchildren. After residing in the Lexington-Purcell area for many years, they lived in Laverne 8 years, prior to their recent move back to Purcell three months ago.
During retirement, he enjoyed working around the home and collecting oil field memorabilia. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, a hard working father, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather and a special brother and uncle.
