Almen Carl O. Faribault Daily News Nov/1956 While an entire commuity shared with the bereaved families and many relatives the sorrow and shock of the deaths of five Rice county men, deer hunting companions, who died together in their trailer near Lutsen on the North Shore Friday Night, Nov. 16, funeral services for the victims of the tragedy were held last week. Hundreds were present at the services to express their sympathy and the sense of loss which gripped the entire area as the full impact of the tragedy was felt. The funeral service for Carl O. Almen was held Friday afternoon in the Northfield Methodist church, with the Rev. Richard G. Douglas officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haines sang, accompanied by Mrs. Chester Fox at the organ. Interment was made in Groveland cemetery at Dundas, with Loy F. Bowe, F. E. Drake, C. M. Crandall, E. L. Parson, Arthur Bickel, and Henry Sanders as pallbearers. Masonic committal services were conducted at the grave by Social Lodge No. 48, A.F. & A.M., of Northfield, of which Mr. Almen was a member.
