Gaylord L. Albrecht, 81, of Flanagan, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday (Dec. 19, 2014) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

He was born April 9, 1933 at his home in Flanagan, where he lived 81 years. He was the son of Alvin and Mollie Schrock Albrecht. He married Gertrude Wuebbens on June 16, 1957 in Flanagan. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Ginger Albrecht and two sisters, Elizabeth Eberle and Bernadine Yoder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marion and Jerome Albrecht and a sister, Naomi Kauffman.

Gaylord grew up in Waldo Township, Flanagan. He graduated from Flanagan High School in 1951, where he excelled in many sports. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean conflict. He farmed all his life until his heart surgery forced him to retire in 2002. He enjoyed setting up at flea markets for 45 years, where he met many friends. Gaylord never met a stranger and he loved to visit.

Gaylord was a member of Prairieview Mennonite Church.
