MRS. ELIZABETH ALEXANDER
Mrs. Elizabeth (Bessie) Alexander, 88 year old resident of Clarke and Lucas county communities most of her life, died Sunday, September 22, 1963 at the Clarke County Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday, September 24 in the Webster Funeral Home with Rev. L. V. Fardon, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial was made in the Last Chance Cemetery in Lucas County.
The daughter of Levi and Anna Collier Smith, she was born February 11, 1875, in West Union, Ohio. She was educated in the Ohio schools and had lived for most of her life in Lucas County before moving to Osceola one year ago. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
On January 19, 1898, she was united in marriage to Emery Allen Alexander and they were the parents of three children. Mr. Alexander preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Dana, and a daughter-in-law, Floy, of Chariton and a grandson, Gary Alexander of Cedar Rapids; a great-granddaughter, Linda Kay, and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Bevard of Keokuk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Clair; one daughter, Dorothy; two sisters, Ella Prutee and Mrs. Pearl McWilliams; and two brothers, Edwin and Irwin.
