Benjamin Franklin Cox was born in Alabama USA November 1848. We hear he left home at a young age and traveled to Texas where he ran freight for the Confederate Army. He Married Hulda Jane Jones of East Texas in 1883. Together they raised eleven children: James Rowen, Thomas Wright, Charity Melvina, Mary Ann, Martha Jane, Winnie Eldora, Henry Howell, William Franklin, Hulda Ann, Jesse Van Buren and Laurissa Margaret. Their first two children Bennie & Sammy died, one as a toddler & one as an infant. So 13 children in all.

Benjamin was a Farmer-Rancher in Texas and Southwestern New Mexico, in the Animas Valley. Hulda Jane died in 1931 in Runnels County, Texas and is resting in Evergreen Cemetery, Ballinger Co., Texas. They were married 48 years.

Two of their children are buried here in Middle Animas Cemetery: they are Mary Ann and William Franklin, both died the 4th of March 1920 of a flu epidemic.

A couple of their children settled in California, some stayed in Texas while others settled in Southeast Arizona and Southwest New Mexico.
