Mrs. Barney Abbas Dies Suddenly at Home Saturday p.m.
Mrs. Barney Abbas, 39, died suddenly at her home four miles southwest of town Saturday afternoon. Her death was attributed to a blood clot which passed from her leg to her heart.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington following prayer service at the Funeral Home in Ackley. The Rev. Peter Koenen officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Abbas, nee Margaret G. Folkers, was born in Aplington June 17, 1923, the daughter of John F. and the late Velma Folkers. She attended school in Aplington and was graduated from high school there in the class of 1945.
She and Barney Abbas were married February 14, 1948, and they lived in Aplington for a time, later moving to their present farm home.
Mrs. Abbas was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church.
Left to mourn her early departure her husband; three sons, Douglas, Larry and David, all at home; her father of Aplington: a brother, Fred Folkers of Waterloo and a sister, Miss Gertie Folkers of Quincy, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her mother in April, 1961.
