Hugh Ballenger age 73 of Jasper died at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky early today (Friday February 1, 2008).

He was born in Jamestown, Kentucky on January 24, 1935 to Kirby and Virgie (Robinson) Ballenger. He married Shirley Ann Bochart on March 30, 1957 at Saint Peter & Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis.

Hugh Ballenger was a glazier for 37 years prior to his retirement. He also worked at the Jasper Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for several years.

He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was a sports enthusiast, playing on several softball and Basketball teams local men's leagues in his youth and he was a life long UK basketball fan.

Funeral services for Hugh Ballenger will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (February 5, 2008) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday (February 4, 2008) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Hospital Transplant Center at Louisville, Kentucky.
