At age 19 he registered for the draft for WWI where he was already a student in Ministry School at Oklahoma Baptist at Shawnee, OK. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University and began his ministry in 1917 with the Oklahoma Baptist Convention. He was a well-known evangelist and was the former pastor of the Capital Hill Baptist Church in Oklahoma City OK. At age 24 he married Esther May Sheppard 27 August 1923 at Pottawatomie, OK. They divorced in 1941. He married Mary Jordan. He died at the age of 51 at a Fort Worth Texas hospital after a heart attack.
