Mary Lavinia Brown, daughter of S. D. and Nancy Brown, was born near Solo, September 14, 1884, and died April 11, 1947. She was 62.

She was united in marriage in 1903 to James N. Bailey.

She was a member of the Big Creek Free Will Baptist church and had been active in church work for many years. She was widely known in Texas county.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, James N.; 12 children, 24 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Chester, of Wilmington, Ill.; Lester, of Evening Shade; Carmie, of the home; Everett, of Eunice; Walter, of Raymondville; Edna Williams, of Keota, Ia.; Myrtle Cornelison, and Blanche Barnes, of Summersville; Lorene Halstead, of Lewiston, Idaho; Maxine Halstead, Muscotah, Kansas; Loretha Hubbs, St. Louis, Mo.; Reva Lanning, Kansas City, Mo.; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Brown, of Summersville; three brothers, Lee Brown, of Eunice; Virgil Brown, Summersville; Hershel Brown, of Waukee, Ia.; one sister, Alice Hogan, of Newport Beach, Calif., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Interment was at Union Chapel cemetery. Songs by the Big Creek choir, with Mrs. Cleo Bandy, as organist, were "Just Inside The Eastern Gate," "Precious Memories", "There's a Mansion Waiting For Me, " and "Farther Along."

Pallbearers were Howard Bailey, Marvin Bailey, Steve Lewis, Bill Lewis, Raymond Coffman and Clarence Brown.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Leonard Cornelison and Rev. Silas Cunningham, under direction of the Elliott Funeral Home.
