Litz Edward Adams, a prominent Elkin businessman who owned Johnson Funeral Home, passed away at his home in Mooresville, N.C., on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010.
Born August 17, 1949, at Richlands, Va., he was 60 years old.
He purchased the funeral home after the passing of his dear friend Jo Johnson. He also owned and operated Jo Lea, Inc., a local automobile dealership, and was a successful home building contractor.
Litz had a passion for building, and he became known for the impeccable attention to detail that he gave to each and every project. He was a perfectionist who is now in a Perfect Place with a Perfect Savior.
Litz is survived by his daughter, Bridget Lea Adams-Blackwelder (Chris) of Gastonia, N.C.; his mother, Eva Lucille Lester Adams, of Gilbert, W.Va.; a sister, Winona Adams, of Wharncliffe, W.Va.; a brother, Russell Reed Adams, Jr., (Eloise) of Gilbert, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews, including April Cantrell (Jamie), Amanda Cline (Josh), Michelle Lester (Chad), Russell Adams III (Charlotte), McKenley Adams, and Morgan Ann Swaim; and great-nieces and nephews: Kate Adams, Lydia Reid Adams, Brian Lester, Madison Lester, Dillon Cantrell and Devon Cantrell.
He also leaves behind his precious pets and companions, Bo Bo and Gabriel (Gabi), who were always there for him.
There are also many special friends who love him dearly and have been touched by his kindness and compassion. We are blessed to have known such a man and are proud to have called him friend.
Litz was preceded in death by his father, Russell Reed Adams Sr., and brother, Eugene Scott Adams, both of West Virginia, and a very special feline friend, Harrison Adams.
Visitation will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Johnson Funeral Home.
