Funeral services for Mark Cody Adams, of Carrollton, are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Carrollton with Bishop Lynn Chatwin officiating. A memorial service is pending for 2 p.m. that afternoon in Lindale, with interment following at the Lindale City Cemetery, Lindale, under the direction of Dalton & Son Funeral Home, Lewisville.
Mark was born on Nov. 4, 1983, in Tyler, and passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in a tragic accident while helping a stranded motorist in Lake Helen, Fla. He graduated from Lindale High School in 2002.
Mark developed a love of motorcycles early in life, following in the footsteps of his dad. He worked for Broadway Yamaha in Tyler throughout high school and then pursued a 10-year career working in the Supercross industry. In 2004, Mark secured a position with KTM working for the Supermoto team. He later signed on with Joe Gibbs Racing MX for their inauguaral season. After the 2008 season, he began working for the Nitro Circus team and built many of the stunt props, motorcycles and other vehicles used in the popular MTV series, starring Travis Pastrana and Andy Bell. In late 2011, he began handling the personal tuning duties for 4-time AMA Supercross Champion, James "Bubba" Stewart, at his training compound in Haynes City, Fla. This again reunited Mark with the Joe Gibbs Racing team.
Mark was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Lt. Audy Gene Adams with the Tyler Police Department. Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Adams of Carrollton; two brothers, Joshua and wife Summer of Waco and Bruce Adams and wife Cathy of Bullard; two sisters, Audie Jean Adams of Lindale and Kathy Wills and husband Butch of Liberty City; nine nieces and nephews and many other close relatives.
Pallbearers are Andy Bell, Ricky Castillo, T.J. Ford, Jacob Knight, Tony Levesque, Kurt Nicoll, Larry Saunders and Caleb Wills.
Visitation will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4000 Nazarene Rd., Carrollton, on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm.
