Faith E. Nehring, 89, of Carbondale, Ill., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at home.
Born Dec. 5, 1920, in Maple Park, to Aaron J. Plapp and Laura A. (Schumacher) Plapp,
Faith was a graduate of Northern Illinois Teacher's College in DeKalb and worked as administrative assistant at First United Methodist Church in DeKalb for more than 25 years.
Mrs. Nehring was a former member of Pierce Community United Methodist Church of Maple Park, where she had served as the choir director, Sunday school teacher and president of the United Methodist Women. Also, she had served on the Northern Illinois Conference Board of Missions. Presently, she was a member of the Abundant Life Fellowship in Murphysboro.
Faith loved working with flowers and loved the outdoors.
She married R. L. "Bud" Nehring on Dec. 28, 1941, in DeKalb; he survives in Carbondale;
Other survivors include four children, Kathleen R. Nehring of Carbondale, Kent A. (Janice) Nehring of Folsom, N.M., Chuck (Cindy) Nehring of Murphysboro and Doug A. (Donna) Nehring of Springer, N.M.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one nephew, James E. (Bev) Root of Avon, Ind.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha L. Root, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Abundant Life Fellowship with the Rev. Charles Nehring officiating; fellowship will follow the service at the church. Friends may call at the church from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at East Pierce Cemetery, rural Maple Park.
Memorials may be made to Abundant Life Fellowship or to Gideon's Bibles.
