Mrs. Effie Alsop, 91, was born Feb. 4, 1861 in Ohio and died Feb. 16, 1952 at home of a son Malcolm Alsop. 812 Vattier. (NOTE: Address located in Manhattan, Kansas)
Mrs. Alsop came to Kansas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Dunn when she was 6.
The family homesteaded a farm northwest of Wakefield and now owned by William Faidley.
She and James Henry Alsop were married in 1888 and made their home two miles north of Wakefield.
Eight children were born. Surviving are the son and five daughters, Miss Florence Alsop, Berkeley, Calif.; Miss Inez Alsop, Manhattan; Mrs. Edith Noakes, Filley, Neb.; Mrs. Ethlyn Pastrone, San Francisco and Mrs. Lila Bengard, Austin, Tex.
A son, James Edgar Alsop, died in 1922 and a son Bryan Alsop, died in infancy.
Mrs. Alsop was a member of the Methodist church of Wakefield and active in the WSCS.
Services were held at Feb. 18 at Wakefield. Rev. B.A. Rogers was in charge.
Burial was in Highland cemetery beside her husband who died in 1904.
