Canadian politician. A native of Saint-Cuthbert (Québec), he studied to be physician and opened a practice in Rimouski. Liberal candidate, he was elected to the House of Commons on October 12, 1872 and got reelected again in 1874 and 1878. He was defeated in 1882 but he regained his seat in 1887. This same scenario took place a decade later: defeated in 1891, reelected in 1896. On October 20, 1897, he was appointed Senator for the Division of the Gulf, a post he held until his death.
