PITTSFIELD, BERKSHIRE Co., MA - Mrs. Maria C. Gagliardi, Aiello ( 95y ) d: September 26, 2003 - " Mary " 153 Newell St. died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Amato, province of Catanzaro, Italy, on Nov. 17, 1907, daughter of Giuseppe and Angela Cantafio, Gagliardi, she was raised by her stepmother, Sarafina Serbo, Gagliardi, after the death of her mother. She attended schools in Italy and emigrated to the United States in 1928. She moved to Lenox in 1931 and to Pittsfield in 1939. Mrs. Aiello was employed by GE for 31 years. She worked in the plastics department and the power transformer division, retiring in 1972. She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. She enjoyed cooking, baking, her flower garden and feeding the birds in her yard. Her husband, Antonio Aiello, whom she married July 29, 1929, in St. Ann's Church in Lenox, died Dec 09, 2000. She leaves five daughters, Concetta Stroffolino, Angelina Mickle, Diana Hugabone, Mary Smith and Antoinette Hendricks, all of Pittsfield; three sisters, Angela Burke of Pittsfield, and Jenny Dewkett and Rose Vecchia, both of Lee; 13 grandchildren, and 21 great - grandchildren. A son, Ralph Aiello, died at birth in 1931. jar END:
