Irene (Morgado) Borges, 85, formerly of Mattapoisett died Thursday, July 14, 2005 in the New Bedford Health Care Center. She was the widow of Manuel Borges, Jr.
Born January 31, 1920 the daughter of the late Manuel and the late Anna (DeMello) Morgado, she was a life long resident of Mattapoisett. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Mattapoisett.
Mrs. Borges graduated from New Bedford Vocational School. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Borges and his companion Beverley of Mattapoisett; a daughter, Nancy I. Guard and her husband Joe of Fairhaven; a brother, Robert Morgado of Mattapoisett; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Gloria J. Power. She was the sister of the late Jospeh Morgado, the late Albert Morgado, the late Frank Morgado, the late Manuel Morgado, the late Annie Sylvia, the late Mary Gregory, and the late Rose Morgado.
Her funeral will be Monday, July 18, 2005 at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony’s Church, Mattapoisett. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Mattapoisett.
