An Amo Township raconteur tells this story about Jane and Ellie Bonnar. They were neices of Edward McCauley. After his wife, Annie, died in 1925, Jane came from Northern Ireland in 1929 to be his housekeeper. She is in the household in the 1930 US Census. Ellie came much later. Eventually she inherited land from him, part of which is now Shalom Hill Farm. They invested in grand headstones in this cemetery.
However, the family thought they were vulnerable to being swindled so they sent the two back to Ireland. One died in South Africa, presumably Ellie, as Jane's death was recorded at the US Embassy in London.
