Born June 10, 1924 in Amasa, MI, he was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret Kassa Alexa and was the husband of Zelma Irene Uphaus Alexa.
Mr. Alexa served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a life-member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Ann Arbor Lodge 1253. Mr. Alexa was an avid antique toy collector and sold many used bikes from his home on North Maple Road. He also had a passion for old Buicks.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, Mr. Alexa is survived by his children, Johnny (Debbie) Alexa, Patricia (Lewis) Ellis, Connie (Earl) Luckhardt, Janet (Bill) Payne and Michael (Karen) Alexa; sisters, Esther, Dorothy and Leona; sister-in-law, Violet; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Alexa. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11 AM at the Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, MI with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.
Burial with military honors rendered by the Washtenaw County Honor Guard will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park.
