Paulina Adelaide (Greene) Adams, 93, of Commonwealth Avenue, Warwick, RI, a retired secondary school teacher, died July 14, 2000, at Kent Regency Elder Care. She was the wife of the late Harold E. Adams Sr.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Dutee T. and Carrie M. (Stewart) Greene, she had lived in Cranston for 60 years before entering the nursing home.
Mrs. Adams was employed in the Cranston and Warwick School Departments for 35 years, primarily as a substitute teacher in biology.
She was a 1928 graduate of Pembroke College, now Brown University, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution since 1942, and a former vice regent of the Governor Nicholas Cooke Chapter. She was a member of the Chad Brown Society, the Thomas Angell Society, the Rhode Island Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Edgewood Women’s Club, Pawtuxet Chapter 16, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Warwick Historical Society. She was a past president of the Elmwood Women’s Club, and had served for 34 years as a trustee of the William Hall Library, Cranston.
A former 60-year member of Calvary Baptist Church, Providence, she had taught Sunday school for 35 years. She was a member of Phillips Memorial Baptist Church, Cranston, and a past president of its Husey Circle.
She leaves a sister, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Harold E. Adams Jr.
