George G. Attaya Services Will Be Held Friday
Final rites for George Gabriel Attaya, 58, of Brookhaven will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Attaya died Wednesday morning in Keesler Air Force Base Hospital where he had been a patient since February 14. The Rev. Patrick Moran will conduct the services. A Rosary will be said to night at eight o'clock at the funeral home.
A native of Lumberton, Mr. Attaya was a graduate of the Lumberton High School. He had lived in Gulfport until 1942 when he entered the service. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II and in Korea. He held the rank of the sergeant first class when he retired in 1964. He had been a resident of Brookhaven the past five years. He was Catholic. Mr. Attaya was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 218.
He is survived by his mother Mrs. Maggie Attaya, Long Beach; his wife, Mrs. Mary A. George Attaya, Brookhaven; a brother, Edward V. Attaya, Gulfport; a sister, Mrs. Jeritza A. Bell, Long Beach.
