Gus Junior Barton, age 80, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2006. He was born in Baker County on December 10, 1925. He is the son of the late Foster and Marie Barton. He has lived in Baker County all of his life. He was a member of Glen Friendship Tabernacle Church. He worked for L.V. Hiers Gas Company as a truck driver for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and he loved the mountains and attending church. He is predeceased by his son; Thomas Wayne Barton.

Family members include his wife of nearly 56 years; Polly Stewart Barton; and his son James Harold (Sharon) Barton; both of Macclenny, his sister Mildred Carlson of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law; Tinkey Starling of Macclenny, three grandchildren; Christy (Hunter) Taylor; Kevin Barton and David Barton; and two Great Grandchildren; James Ray Barton and Cole Hunter Taylor.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2006 at Glen Friendship Tabernacle Church with Pastor Albert Starling officiating.

Interment followed in Macedonia Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Thursday, February 16, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. The arrangements for the Barton family were under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services.
