William Leroy Althiser, 69, of 210 E. Maple, Elmwood, died at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at his home.

He was born June 22, 1936, in Pekin to Russell Howard and Helen Dorothy (Church) Althiser. He married Patricia Ann Rodgers on July 1, 1956, in Farmington. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Robert William (Penny) of Elmwood; one daughter, Sally Jo (Doug) Blunier of Port Orange, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Linder; two sisters; and one brother.

He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1987 with 32 years of service. After his retirement he worked at Kress Corporation in Brimfield. He served as an EMT with B.Y.E. Ambulance Service. He was a volunteer at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in the outpatient rehab center for 10 years.

He was a member of the Elmwood Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the UAW.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
