Morton F. Rundquist
Morton Ferdinand Rundquist, 94, of Pepin, formerly of Stockholm, died Saturday September 23, 2000 at Pepin Manor, Pepin. Morton was born October 22, 1905 in rural Stockholm; a son of Ludwig (Lewey) and Ida Smith Rundquist. He attended West Bluff county school, graduating April 23, 1921. He was confirmed May 22, 1921 at Savylund Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church by Alexander Peterson. July 23, 1938, Morton was married to G. Ovedia Olson by A. C. Edstrom. They lived and farmed the family farm in rural Stockholm Township until moving to Pepin, November 9, 1989.

When REA came through the area, Morton wired many of the farms and homes in the area. He enjoyed fixing fencers and small motors. He was a life long member of Sabylund Lutheran Church, Lund. June 20, 1997, Morton along with his wife, entered Pepin Manor Nursing Home, Pepin. They had no children.

He is survived by his wife, G. Ovedia Rundquist; one sister, Dolores (Glen) Halling of Pepin; one sister-in-law, Judith Gudmundson of Peterson, Minnesota; along with many nieces and nephews.

Morton was preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig (Lewey) and Ida Smith Rundquist; two brothers, Elwin Rundquist, Waldemar Rundquist; five sisters, Maria Rundquist, Esther Erickson, Agnes Johnson, Evelyn Larson, and Melvanie Stein.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 26, 2000 at Sabylund Lutheran Church in Lund, with Pastor Lynne Rigg officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock.
