Ruth Calhoon-Ames, 93, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Franklin, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville. She was born October 21, 1914, in Franklin, the daughter of George and Tessie Clayton Tribble. She married Milton A. "Red" Calhoon on May 18, 1935, in Hannibal, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1985. She married Paul F. Ames on June 28, 1997, at Franklin Christian Church in Franklin, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2004.

Mrs. Calhoon-Ames was a homemaker and had worked in the dietary and housekeeping at Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in Jacksonville. She was a longtime member of Franklin Christian Church and a member of the F.A.S.A. Committee and Franklin American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Calhoon-Ames was known for her coconut crème pies.

She is survived by one daughter, Jody (husband, Larry) Carriger of Franklin; one son, Gary (wife, Peggy) Calhoon of Omaha, Nebraska; one step-daughter, Paula Shumaker of Peoria; four grandchildren, Nikki Fairless of Franklin, Pam (husband, John) Kauerauf and Scott (wife, Cathy) Calhoon, both of Springfield, and Brian Calhoon of Omaha, Nebraska; one step-granddaughter, Tammy (husband, Tim) Candy of Grayslake; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Coy Calhoon, one sister, Mary Henderson, and two brothers, Ward and Wallace Tribble.

Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
